PATHWAYS MENTORSHIP PROGRAM
A Community Mentorship Division of The Advisory Bureau, LLC
Real mentors. Real experience. Real results. Pathways connects young adults with experienced police officers who serve as mentors, instructors, and role models in a supportive group setting.
Partner With UsProgram Overview
Pathways is a 12-month, 36-session group mentorship program that pairs young adults (ages 18–24) with experienced, sworn and retired police officers who lead classroom-style instruction on the practical skills needed to succeed — communication, financial literacy, career readiness, conflict resolution, mental health awareness, and civic responsibility.
Our mentors aren’t just teachers. They’re officers trained in de-escalation, crisis response, and leadership — bringing credibility, structure, and genuine care to every session. The program is designed for delivery on-site at non-profit, school, and community-center partner locations, and is built to satisfy grant-funded youth-development program requirements.
12 Months
Three one-hour classes per month, delivered consistently across a full year.
36 Sessions
A complete, structured curriculum covering 12 essential life-skill themes.
Group Cohorts
12–20 young adults per cohort, ages 18–24, building peer accountability.
Officer-Led
Every class is taught by an active or retired sworn police officer.
Why Experienced Police Officers Make Exceptional Mentors
- Real-world crisis experience — officers speak from direct experience about consequences, choices, and de-escalation, not theory.
- Communication & de-escalation training — skills that translate directly into teaching conflict management and composure under stress.
- Credibility on rights, law & consequences — few mentors can speak with the same authority on the justice system.
- Discipline, structure & accountability — law enforcement culture models exactly the habits young adults need to build.
- Resilience through adversity — officers bring authentic stories of overcoming trauma, danger, and setbacks.
- Trusted community relationships — officer-mentors help strengthen trust between law enforcement and the communities they serve.
- Leadership training — career law enforcement includes extensive leadership and supervisory development.
- Specialized behavioral training — many mentors bring Mental Evaluation Unit, crisis-intervention, or juvenile experience.
